Director HSSE, Cameron LNG
Kal’s current role is Director HSSE for Cameron LNG. He is accountable for Developing and implementing an overarching Corporate and Operations HSSE Management system. Maintain strategic security infrastructure to meet MARSAC and USCG requirements and Manage HSSE relationship with EPC contractor associated with building LNG facilities. Additionally, create and maintain a safety culture reflective of a commitment to an injury and accident-free workplace. Previously he was the Director H&S for Chenier LNG and prior to that Special Projects Senior Advisor for the Center for Off Shore Safety where he wass accountable for GOM industry implementation of SEMS protocol, establishing industry safety key performance indicators, contractor skills and knowledge certification matrix and working with BSEE and the USCG. He was the Director of Safety & Health for the Gulf Coast Restoration Organization and Macondo deep-water response Incident Management Team Safety Section Chief. In this role, he was responsible for significantly improved overall safety & health through leadership time in the field, clearly defined contractor management expectations, proactive reward and recognition, procedure and training and a robust assurance process. He was with BP 34 years joining Amoco out of the university. He has held various roles including Manager of investigations, Global Director of HSSE and Director of Operation. Over the last 15 years he has implemented HSSE management systems, SEMS, behavioural based safety and cultural change processes and techniques across multiple Business Units and Segments including; Chemicals, Fabric & Fibers, Hydrogen, Solar, Wind, Natural Gas Liquids (NGL’s) and Castrol. He has been responsible for multiple major projects that included the construction of both green field and brown field facilities and the divestitures and remediation of multiple facilities.
