Verdantix Summit Europe 2019 | London | 26 - 27 March

Delivering Business Value
With Innovative HSE Technologies

HSE leaders need to craft a new mission statement which aligns with delivering value to the business rather than policing compliance with HSE regulations. There is a burning need to reposition the HSE function away from being a cost of doing business. There is a growing realization that HSE performance has a significant impact on operational – and therefore financial - performance. Risk-centric HSE management systems are delivering superior results to compliance-centric approaches. Verdantix research shows that executing on this new business value mission statement for HSE can be better achieved by supporting changes in people and process with better data and technology.

The Verdantix HSE Summit Europe in 2019 will gather more than 150 HSE leaders and technology executives at the Stamford Bridge Chelsea Stadium to share perspectives on how this new mission statement can be fulfilled. Building on the four prior summits in Boston, Chicago, Amsterdam and Houston, this seventh annual event will equip you with new connections, a broad understanding of the HSE technology landscape and the courage to launch new change initiatives.

      Welcome & Overview

      Speaker:

      David Metcalfe, CEO at Verdantix

    • 8:45 - Keynote

What Digital Transformation Means For HSE

      Speaker:

Michael Cooke, SVP Global Head of HSE and Sustainability at ABB

In the last 2 years, the mindset of HSE leaders have changed from “why should we align with digital strategies” to “how should we implement digital strategies”. Reflecting this overall shift in business thinking which has spread from the technology and consumer sectors into the industrial world, this keynote speech will illuminate the strategic implications of digital transformation for the HSE function.

    • 9:15 - Panel

HSE Leaders Of The Future: Innovators, Collaborators & Digitizers

      Chair:

      David Metcalfe, CEO at Verdantix

Matt Airhart, President at VelocityEHS Canada

Lisbeth Fromling, Chief QHSE Officer at Network Rail

Dan Platten, H&S Director at SCS Railways

Anthony Wareham, Head of Health Safety and Security at Phillips

The mission statement for HSE is moving from compliance to participating in business value creation. This has big implications for the responsibilities, activities and skill sets of future HSE leaders. If the future of HSE leadership is dependent on innovation, collaboration and digitization what does the HSE community need to change to ensure the profession continues to succeed in the next 5 years?

    • 9:45 - Panel

Risk Creation: Health And Safety’s Role In Business Growth

      Chair:

Stuart Neumann, Director, Advisory Services at Verdantix

Ruth Denyer, Group Operational Risk Director at ITV

Steve Dyson, VP - QHSE at Nokia - Alcatel Submarine Networks

Keith Prince, Business Unit HS&E Leader at Laing O'Rourke

Historically health and safety practitioners have been responsible for ensuring business operations comply with regulations and have implemented management systems to control risks. Forward-looking health and safety leaders now get involved in the process of “risk creation” which is triggered by business growth into new markets and new activities. Can safety leaders effectively control risks which they have created with business partners? Or does this imperil the three lines of defence model of risk management?
